Geoffrey Sills

Here is Geoffrey Sills’s story in his own words:

When I was young, I was taught to live by the motto, "Always Be Prepared".  Although I spent most of my life abiding to this line of wisdom, nothing could have prepared me for how my life changed after January 6th, 2021.  My name is Geoff Sills and since June 18th, 2021, I have been detained as a political prisoner in the "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave".

Since I was young, I was raised in a Christian household in Mechanicsville, Virginia and these values have stuck with me throughout my life's experiences. I decided to attend the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2009 where I studied Visual Effects and excelled in my studies.  I also developed a passion for photography during this time and quickly fell in love with traveling to photograph the worlds most beautiful landscapes.  The big island of Hawaii and Iceland have been a couple of my favorite locations that I have been lucky enough to experience.  There's something about throwing rocks into lava or gazing into washed up icebergs on Diamond Beach that I will never forget.  After my studies in college I became a digital artist specializing in Architectural Visualization and 3D game design for military aircraft simulators. I someday soon hope to start my own business surrounding residential home development and custom building design.  I love to spend my time reading and exercising and have used the time of my incarceration to become more healthy and enlightened.  I enjoy reading on subjects of general and military history, computer science, current events, business and marketing, architecture, web design, art, photography, and life skills such as gardening, home improvement, investing, and preparedness.

Though I have been a contributing member of my community and never had any issues with the law, this did not hinder the DOJ from sending an armored personnel carrier and SWAT team to raid my home at 6 in the morning in the summer of '21. Following this raid, 18 months of my pretrial detainment were spent at The Northern Neck Regional Jail where I suffered malnourishment causing a weight loss of more than 40 lbs. in under 6 months.  Weight was not all that I lost; I also lost my immune system.  I soon contracted MRSA and suffered medial neglect for 5 months before I was permitted to see the doctor to treat this dangerous and painful infection.  Conditions were bad enough that many of the J6ers, including myself, were moved to a Bureau of Prisons facility in Lewisburg PA where conditions were much better.  Upon my arrival I could not believe the conditions that I suffered under for 18 months at the NNRJ.

Today, I am sentenced and serving out the remainder of my time at a facility in Loretto, PA.  I hope to enroll in a plumbing or HVAC apprenticeship.  I believe this to be the biggest opportunity of my life to get reoriented and prepared for a successful future.  I anticipate the best years of my life to be ahead of me.  I have grown exponentially in mind and body through this unique experience.  I am anxious to find a wife and start a family, to truly become successful in the world of business, to build my own house, and to travel the world with my camera and loved ones.  I would not have the drive I now have if this challenge had not surfaced in life.

I am thankful for all those who have and will continue to support me as I have lost all but my family through this struggle.  My father is out of work indefinitely recovering from a fall in which he fractured both of his legs and my mother is a county school bus driver that takes every overtime opportunity to make ends meet.  It has been a continuing challenge to meet the financial needs for legal and commissary that have surfaced through this experience and I ask for your help by sending books on my reading list so I can prepare for my future or by contributing to my commissary fund.  My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

God bless you, and God Bless America.
